Kintsukuroi a Cold Blooded Excuse for Murder 金繕い-冷酷な殺人の口実

​In February 2020, Sarah Boone was charged with second-degree murder after her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., was found dead inside a suitcase in their Winter Park, Florida apartment.

Boone claimed they were playing a drunken game of hide-and-seek when Torres willingly climbed into the suitcase, and she allegedly fell asleep, forgetting he was inside. However, videos retrieved from Boone's phone revealed a more disturbing narrative: as Torres struggled and pleaded for help, stating he couldn't breathe, Boone recorded his distress, laughing and taunting him with remarks like, "That's what you do when you choke me." ​

She portrayed herself as a survivor who had endured profound suffering, suggesting that her experiences had broken her but also made her stronger, akin to the philosophy behind Kintsukuroi. ​

Despite her defense, Boone was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Jorge Torres Jr. ​
